With 39 years of experience in capital markets in Brazil, Europe and USA, he was an Executive Director in several banks. He is the Director of Investments of Astra Investimentos Ltda, an independent fund asset manager and CEO of Barham Financial Services, specialized in preparing companies for Private Equity investments.

Brian Gabe Orland

MA Candidate in South Asia and International Economics at The School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Johns Hopkins University. He did research internship at the Strategic Foresight Group in Mumbai and at the Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies in New Delhi. He also did public health research at a leprosy hospital in rural Tamil Nadu. Received BA in Political Science from Davidson College, North Carolina.

PhD in Political Science by USP, post-graduated in Maritime Policy and Strategy and graduated in Naval Science, both at the Naval War School. Ex-Defence attaché for Brazil in China and South Korea between 1998 and 2000, he is a researcher in the area of foreign policy and supervisor of working groups on Chinese foreign policy.

Post-graduate Degree in Human Resources from the Mumbai Educational Trust and Graduate Degree in Commerce from Mumbai University. He presently works at Glenmark Pharmaceuticals. Recently published Ruthless Dictators, by Magna Publishers.

Constantino Xavier

PhD candidate and Fulbright scholar in South Asian Studies at Johns Hopkins University (SAIS), Washington, D.C.; M.A. and M.Phil. in International Politics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, where he also worked as media correspondent and at the Portuguese Embassy (2004-2008). Lectures in Brazilian and Chinese companies and universities about cross-cultural differences are also included in her experience. She holds an MBA with research about women in management.

Gerard McCann

The Mellon Fellow in Transnational History at the University of Oxford. He is Fellow of St Cross College and a Research Fellow in the Politics Group at Nuffield College, Oxford. He is publishing two books on India-Africa relations - a co-edited collection (with Dr. E.E. Mawdsley) to be published with Pambazuka Press, and a sole-authored monograph with Zed Books 'African Arguments' series. Both will appear in 2011.

Engineer, researcher at the University of São Paulo in the areas of air traffic and critical systems, he has been working with many institutions around the world. He is an advisor of the Brazilian Society for Air Traffic Research (SBTA).

Doctorate Degree in Economics by the University of Campinas with the thesis "The Role of Pension Funds in the Reconstruction of Brazilian Industry and Urban Infra-structure in the 21th Century". He holds a Master Degree in Economics by the same institution.

Graduate Degree in Foreign Trade from Beijing International Studies University. Works in the area of tourism and has already travelled all over China. Her first book, The ancient villages of China, was launched in 2007 and talks about geography, history, architecture and local customs.

Marcelo Sette Mosaner

He graduated in International Relations at PUC University São Paulo and specialized in Chinese language and culture at Peking University. He lived in the US, China and New Zealand and masters English, Spanish, French and Mandarin, besides Portuguese.

Maria Fernanda Lochschmidt

She holds a Master Degree in Art History by the University of Vienna. Her field of expertise is Chinese porcelain from the XVI and XVII centuries. Lived in Beijing, where she learned Chinese traditional painting. Worked at The National Palace Museum in Taipei.

Mehmet Ozkan

PhD candidate at Sevilla University, Spain. M.A. and MSc in International Politics from University of Johannesburg (South Africa) and Linkopings University (Sweden). B.A. in International Relations from Istanbul University, Turkey, where he is also affiliated with Ankara-based Foundation for Political, Economic and Social Research (SETA) as researcher. Besides being a visiting student at UPB-Medellin, Colombia in 2009, he has been a Visiting International Fellow at New Delhi-based Institute for Defense Studies and Analyses (IDSA), India, in 2010.

Published several didactic books. Made presentations at the Brazil-China Economic Development Chamber (Course on Corporate Brazil-China Etiquette) and at Aduaneiras (China: Business Trip).

Expert in Asia, he is a PhD Candidate and a researcher in the Center of China-Latin America Studies at the National Chengchi University, Taipei. He holds a Master degree by the same university. Graduated in International Relations at the Faculdades Integradas Rio Branco, São Paulo, Brazil.

Salvador Raza

He is a Doctor by COPPE/Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and a Master by King´s College, University of London. He is the founder of CeTRIS and a consultant in the formulation of policies and strategies for various countries and in country risk analyses for public and private concerns.

Sandra Cardozo

PhD candidate at University of Campinas - UNICAMP, she holds a Master Degree in Political Science by the same university, focused on Brazilian foreign policy in the 90´s. She is an expert in Brazil-India relations, which is the topic of her doctorate thesis.

Snehal Manjrekar

MBA with specialization in Finance at the Institute of Management Education & Research, Belgaum, India, spent half-a-decade at Thomson Reuters India monitoring developments in global fixed income and corporate debt markets. He is associated with International Journal of Economics and Business (New Delhi) and has contributed research work related to Chinese economy. The present area of focus is the revival of Silk Road Economies.

Susi Wang

Graduate Degree in Business Administration, she is a specialist in Tourism and a consultant on leisure, study and business trips to China. Born in Beijing, she has lived in São Paulo for 18 years. She travels frequently to different Chinese provinces for commercial events and visits to relatives and friends, all of which allows her to live out social, political and economic changes close up.

Before joining JNU, he headed the Southeast Asia Research Program for a year (2007-2008) at the New Delhi-based Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies.
